Note: The above version is the authentic version obtained from Sivan’s compositions published by his daughter Rukmini Ramani (Cf. http://www.reocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/1428/sivan.pdf   song 3.3). Some musicians sing the Pallavi line as “en kavalaigaL tIrttaruLE” instead of “kaDaikkaN pArttaruLE”. Perhaps they entertain so many worries while coming to the concert or the version handed over to them by their gurus had that phrase, a traditional oversight.

Lyrics in Roman script

pallavi

gaNapatiyE karuNAnidhiyE kaDaikkaN pArttaruLE shrI mahA    (gaNapatiyE)

anupallavi

tuNaiyaDi tozhum anbar tuyar tuDaikkum tuyyA sundara caraNAravinda tudikkaiyA (gaNapatiyE)

caraNam

sakala surAsurar paNimalarp-padanE shankaran umaiyum manamagizh sutanE
jagam muzhudum niRai yAnai mukhavanE tAL paNindEn tanjam nIyE bhagavanE  (gaNapatiyE)

Meaning:

Pallavi: Oh lord GaNapati, you are a treasurehouse of mercy. Please cast your glance at me.

Anupallavi: You eliminate the misery of your devotees who worship your feet. Your feet are beautiful resembling lotus.

CaraNam: The celestials and the demons worship your flowery feet. Lord Shiva and his consort umA are pleased with you (their son). You pervade all over the universe. You have the elephant face. I worship your feet seeking refuge. You are the one deity I trust.
